COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Off-grid, stand-alone PV systems present a variety of new challenges to system designers, installers and integrators who primarily work with direct grid-tie, no-battery installations. Many customers with these existing systems are also interested in adding battery backup for energy security during blackouts, and to offset the added costs of new residential time-of-use metering and peak demand charges. The course will be focused on the latest innovations in battery-based PV systems, and how these can benefit both new and existing installations.
TOPICS COVERED:
- Battery storage systems and NEC code compliance
- New battery technologies
- Battery enclosures
- New MPPT charge controllers including high voltage
- AC-coupled micro-grid systems
- AC-coupled inverters
- Battery bank monitoring and data acquistion
- Live internet battery storage PV system monitoring
- NEC 690.12 rapid shutdown
